• A new method of communicating uncertainty that was proposed by M. Kandlikar
and James Risbey in a paper written in 2004 has become a central aspect
of the guidance document on “Assessing and Communicating Uncertainty” provided
to the scientist authors of the Fourth Assessment Report of the Inter-Governmental
Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). IPCC is the primary UN body providing scientific
advice on Climate Change to national governments.
