The MAAPPS program follows the rules and procedures set out by the Faculty of Graduate Studies on leaves of absence (LOA). There are 3 types of leaves a graduate student may take: personal, medical, and parental.
The first step in requesting a leave is to talk to your supervisor AND the Graduate Program Advisor who will work with the Graduate Program Assistant to ensure that the necessary paperwork is completed.
It is important to note that you cannot receive any awards, conduct any course or research work, or use any University facilities while on leave. Also, it may have an impact on student loans or bursaries.
Further information on the different types of leaves of absence from your program can be found on the FoGS website.
